Bronco Billy
In May 2020, Bronco Billy had an accident and badly fractured his front right leg. We fostered him the day after his surgery.
He had a lot of medical needs and had to be carried out to go potty.
Billy had to wear a cone of shame to keep from chewing on his cast. I knew we were in trouble when after a week he placed that whole cone over John's head and started licking his face.
Billy had a long recovery period and didn't want to walk on his leg. I would make him walk backwards down the hallway to slowly build up his muscles.
Finally, Billy walked on all fours and was ready to find a furever family.
We knew that he was already home and completed the adoption paperwork.
Besides his medical issues, Billy also had some other challenges. He would go a short distance on the leash and then put on the brakes.
Billy was also afraid of anything over his head like trees or awnings.
It took a lot of patience, but he has overcome most of his challenges.
Billy is just one of the many Greyhounds that we have fostered. He was one of 3 that we have foster failed with.
He gets along with our cats, other Grey, and Sheltie. He is a larger Greyhound and an awesome snuggler in bed that keeps us very warm at night.
Billy is a beautiful blue fawn with amber colored eyes that look into your soul. He is now 7 years old and lighter in the muzzle, but still a handsome man.
We wouldn't trade any of our experiences with our fosters or our own greys. We consider it a blessing to have these wonderful dogs in our lives.
I hope someday you get to experience the quirkiness and love of a Greyhound.

Superior Opie
Opie came to HGA after ending his racing career in West Virginia. This Boy walked in like he owned my place. My Pack accepted him immediately and honestly the learning curve was very minimal. One of the easiest Boyz I’ve ever fostered. Friends in Lincoln were looking to add to their family after realizing Poe needed another buddy. He had sadly lost his bestie a few months prior. Chuck and Linette after a few chats came over to do a Meet. It was clear once they walked in that Opie wanted them as Furever Servants. Paperwork happened and his greyt retirement began. I’m very fortunate to get constant updates. And visitation rights. Hehe. We are one big family and everyone stays involved for help with questions etc. This Boy like all others is living life to the fullest. Spoiled, what’s that. Poe and Opie own these 2leggers and the loving bond is obvious to anyone that knows them all.

Rose
Rose came HGA along with a few others from Australia. This lady was and is such a Spitfire. Fostering her definitely added some spunk to The Pack here. She was a hard one. Hard in the sense that I honestly didn’t want to let go. But knowing I can’t keep them all. Yet anyway . We and I went around thru a couple pending applications where she might fit. Finally after she had claimed my home, Rose decided she wanted to meet Claudia and Jonathan. So we set it up that they would come down from Minnesota the night before. And we all met the next day. People that Know, know I’m all about the greyhounds. Well seeing Roses response upon meeting them it was very clear She had a new Family. With tears of joy we did all paperwork. And with big hugs and kisses she moved on to her Perfect World. Constantly in touch by text and Roses own Instagram page makes my heart Smile. To Foster is an amazing opportunity to assess and learn about these amazing souls. Step up, Step in and join our Greyt Community. Y’all will never regret
