1. Submit Your Application
Start by filling out our online application. There is a non-refundable $30 application fee payable via PayPal at the end of the form. This fee helps cover the administrative costs of processing your file and getting our hounds ready for their forever homes.
2. Application Review
Once submitted, one of our adoption coordinators will review your details. We look at your lifestyle, home environment, and any current pets to ensure a greyhound is the right fit for you.
3. Rental Verification (If Applicable)
If you rent your home, we need to ensure your landlord or management company is "greyhound friendly." Please provide one of the following:
A relevant section of your lease or a snapshot of the apartment amenities list.
A written email or letter from your landlord.
Documentation for an Emotional Support Animal (ESA), if applicable.
4. The Virtual Home Visit
Instead of an in-person visit, we ask you to provide a Video Tour of your home. Imagine you are giving us a guided tour!
Show us around: Include the interior living areas and any outdoor spaces/fenced yards.
Gear Check: If you already have a crate or bed, show us! If not, just point out where you plan to put them.
Note: In some cases, we may still request an in-person visit if needed.
5. Open Dialogue While the Adoption Process Progresses
If we have any questions or minor concerns during the review, we’ll reach out to chat. We want this to be a success for both you and the dog, so we’re here to problem-solve with you.
6. Approval & Wait List
Once approved, you’ll join our list of "Approved Applicants." Congratulations! You are one step closer to your hound.
7. The Perfect Match
We will reach out when we see a potential match for your home. We also encourage you to keep an eye on our website—if a particular dog catches your eye, let us know!
8. The "Meet & Greet"
If the "spark" is there, it’s time to make it official!
Taking them home: Most adopters complete the paperwork and pay the final adoption fee during the meet-up and take their dog home that day.
The Two-Week Hold: If you need a little more time to buy supplies or prep your home, we can place a maximum two-week hold on the dog.
Foster-to-Adopt: In specific cases, we offer a trial period where you sign a temporary agreement before making the final decision.
Basic "Go-Home" Checklist
To ensure your hound is comfortable from night one, we recommend having these items ready:
Crate/Kennel: Essential for a retired racer’s transition.
Food & Water Bowls: Raised bowls are often preferred for these tall friends.
High-Quality Food: Ask us for recommendations!
Comfy Bedding: The softer, the better.
Have questions about the process? We’re here to help! Reach out to us at any time.
